The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) serves as the primary scientific authority for meteorological research in the Netherlands. As a government-funded entity, KNMI plays a pivotal role in offering essential insights and forecasts pertaining to meteorological and climatological matters. In line with the Dutch government’s commitment to open data initiatives, KNMI provides a substantial portion of its data as open data to the public. This includes access via APIs and stream-driven technologies such as MQTT event messages, facilitating widespread access and utilization of meteorological information for various purposes.

As part of its open data strategy, the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute offers data collected from all weather stations under its operation throughout the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This encompasses not only stations within the Netherlands itself but also those situated in parts of the North Sea and the Caribbean region that falls under the kingdom’s jurisdiction.

To facilitate access to this wealth of meteorological information, the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute provides readings from these stations every 10 minutes.
