Enterprise Architecture for Business Growth
Against the common (and incorrect) believe that Enterprise Architecture is an IT focused profession the actual role of Enterprise Architects expand well beyond technology. Enterprise Architecture leverages technology as one of the enablers to architect, design, improve and create business processes and new ways of how an enterprise can do business.
One of the most important tasks, one of the main goals, of every enterprise is to stay current and relevant to consumers. When companies are no longer relevant to the customer base this means that the are on a slow path to extinction. New companies who overtake them, become more relevant for consumers, will take away addressable market and the associated revenue.
From this viewpoint, one of the most important things for every company is to stay relevant, keep up with the changing demand and the changing customer needs. This means that on a constant basis companies need to work on the current products and service while at the same time work on the next generation as well as the products and services which will launch in a (possibly) a couple of years.
Focussing only, or to much, on the current and not addressing the future needs which already need to be researched and developed in the now will at one point in time ensure that a company becomes irrelevant.
